WELCOME TO BLACKROCK BAPTIST

Find a Sunday School Class
Blackrock Baptist Church's Sunday
School program is all about equipping men, women, and
children with the truth of God and knowing how to apply
those truths to their lives every day. Our classes will
equip people to live the Christian life successfully.
Sunday School at Blackrock serves a broad range of ages
and needs. Serving the educational needs of a diverse
and mobile congregation is a challenge that Blackrock
seeks to meet through a variety of classes and
departments. At each age level, opportunities for Bible
Study, theological exploration, and spiritual growth are
offered. Individuals are invited to explore the
intersection between faith and everyday life. Each class
is designed to provide age-appropriate, meaningful and
challenging study, good fellowship, ministry
opportunities and church involvement.
Children in our nursery are given loving care and
attention so that their earliest experiences and
memories of church are positive, safe and happy.
Preschoolers are taught Bible stories and introduced to
ideas about God, themselves, the world around them and
relationships with each other using developmentally
appropriate methods. Because consistency is important
for a preschooler's development, a consistent group of
teachers greets them with eager enthusiasm week by week.
Elementary-school children are taught Bible skills so
that they can better apply Biblical principles to their
daily lives.
Youth are challenged to explore all kinds of life issues
in light of Scripture and to begin to think for
themselves about God and faith. Teachers provide a
variety of challenging study opportunities and topics
designed to address the real life and faith needs of
youth in today's difficult world.
All classes meet on Sundays from 9:15 - 10:15 a.m.
A Bright Light For Special Needs
Last month, Pastor Michael Bowen of Blackrock Baptist Church,
called Kim Smith after a Tuesday night visitation when a potential
church member said they would love to attend church but there was no
SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS for their special needs child.
During conversations with the parents, he was told they skip church to
avoid the stares, the whispers.
Pastor prayed and took action by asking Kim Smith to put the idea into
action. The first Special Needs Sunday School Class began on May
9th 2010 at 9:15.m. It is open to all ages. The students will sing and
share stories from scripture and find special applications through
crafts - it will be a fun and relaxing time.
Kim has 18 years experience in Nassau County Schools with (ESE) Special Needs Students. She has been trained in sign language and behavior management classes.
“Here,” Pastor Bowen said, “they will be accepted and loved.”
